A police vehicle was damaged in a pursuit that closed the A55 and saw a man arrested. The incident started at around 5pm on Sunday in Bangor.
Officers tried to stop a suspected speeding vehicle on Caernarfon Road, which runs between the A55 junction 10 and the city centre.
The driver did not stop and police gave chase. The car was halted a short time later by a Roads Crime Unit officer on the A55 junction 10 sliproad in an incident that closed the A55 for a period on Sunday evening.
The police vehicle was damaged but the officer was not injured. A man has been arrested.
North Wales Police said: “A man has been arrested following a police pursuit in the Bangor area. At around 5pm on Sunday, January 12th, officers attempted to stop a vehicle suspected to be driving at speed on Caernarfon Road, however, the vehicle did not stop, and a pursuit ensued.
“A short time later, an officer of the Roads Crime Unit brought the car to a stop on the A55 slip road at J10. Thankfully, the officer was not injured during the incident, although the police vehicle sustained substantial front-end damage.
“A 29-year-old from the Bangor area was detained and arrested on suspicion of drug driving, dangerous driving and driving without a license.”
