The Alma Tavern on Droitwich Road is closed today (January 8) after a sudden gas leak left the pub with no heating.
An emergency engineer visited the site last night (January 7) but another engineer is set to visit today to find the source of the leak and staff say it’s ’50/50′ as to whether the pub will be open tomorrow.
William Bradley, a manager at The Alma Tavern, said: “Last night we smelt a strong smell of gas and so we called out an emergency engineer who said there was definitely a leak and they were concerned it could be hidden in one of the walls.
“We only use gas for our central heating as our kitchen is all electric but it also heats up the hot water for the whole site which we use for handwashing which makes us not compliant.
“We are currently closed because it wouldn’t be comfortable for our customers and everything has been switched off but a new engineer is coming at around midday today to try and find the leak.
“At current stance, it’s probably fifty-fifty if we are open tomorrow.”
Staff at the pub said to keep an eye on it’s Facebook page for further updates.
