South Western Railway (SWR) has told customers not to travel between Woking, Basingstoke, and Southampton today, Monday, January 6, as ‘all mainline routes are expected to be disrupted’.
The company says they were informed of electrical supply problems between the stations with disruption lasting ‘until the end of the day’.

It added that diesel-operated services would be running normally between London Waterloo and Exeter via Salisbury but are expected to be extremely busy and ‘may be unavailable for boarding at Basingstoke’.
To assist passengers on their journey, SWR says that a ‘very limited’ rail replacement bus service will be running between Woking and Basingstoke calling at Brookwood, Farnborough Main, Fleet, Winchfield and Hook in both directions.
Tickets will also be accepted on London Underground services between London Victoria, London Waterloo and London Paddington as well as Great Western Railway (GWR) services between London Paddington and Basingstoke via Reading.
Customers can also use their tickets on GWR services between London Paddington and Exeter St Davids, GWR services between Guildford and Reading and GWR services between Portsmouth Harbour and Salisbury.
Alternatively, customers can use Southern services between London Victoria and Clapham Junction or Portsmouth Harbour and Southampton Central in addition to CrossCountry services between Reading and Bournemouth.
Stagecoach bus services for route 13 between Basingstoke, Hook and Alton and Newbury and District bus services 731/730 between Basingstoke, Frimley, Camberley, Bagshot and Heathrow T5 will also be accepting tickets.
South Western Railway concluded: “For further information or onward travel advice please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point.”
