Isn’t Bristol blessed? Every year, the city centre gets a glow-up thanks to Bristol Light Festival and its dazzling light installations. But it’s not the only event brightening up Bristol this winter. This Saturday (January 18), the annual Bedminster Winter Lantern Parade will march down North Street.
On what will, very likely, be another dark, gloomy January evening, locals to BS3 will lovingly light up Bedminster with hundreds of handmade lanterns of all shapes and sizes. We’re expecting thousands of locals, everyone from nursery children to senior citizens, to turn up – including the Bristol Samba band for a celebratory atmosphere.

For months now, Bedminster Winter Lantern Parade’s artists have been working with community groups, schools and local businesses to craft these unique lanterns around the theme of ‘Bristol Together’. Plus, raising money through a Crowdfunder to ensure that “Bemmy Lanterns” has a future in this city.

The parade will start at St Francis’ Church/Tobacco Factoy on North Street at 5PM. It will then head down North Street towards Cannon Street, before turning onto East Street and stopping at the other end. You can expect live music and street entertainment along the route, some of which will start earlier – so we advise you to get down a little earlier so you don’t miss the start!
