What is the best pub in Bristol? The city is home to so many places to share a drink with friends or make memories watching the local game, so it can be tricky to find the best of the best.
Defining what is the best pub in Bristol comes down to a number of factors. How affordable is it? What is the drinks menu like? Does it provide a unique atmosphere or great quality food?
One travel expert has taken the bold step to identify the best pub in each county in England. Writing for the Telegraph, Will Hawkes has compiled the blockbuster list with the best pub in Bristol being located in Redcliffe.
The King’s Head, on Victoria Street, was named as the best pub in the city. Set in a historic building, it was the interior and vibe of the establishment that gathered praise from the travel writer.
Will Hawkes said: “Revived by brewery Good Chemistry in 2022, The King’s Head is a pint-sized delight. Inside you’ll find a number of delightful details, including an exuberant mid-Victorian bar-back, a snug area in the shape of a tramcar and William Morris-esque wallpaper. The building dates from the 17th century but has been updated a few times since.”
The pub has had more success in recent days as it was named as runner-up in the CAMRA’s Heritage Award. The pub was restored when it opened back up in 2022 having previously been closed during the Covid pandemic.
