Cleveland Tontine, North Yorkshire closed for development

The Cleveland Tontine, at Staddlebridge, near Northallerton, is closed to diners and drinkers after a message about the temporary closure was revealed online. 

The Cleveland Tontine (Image: NORTHERN ECHO) Owners of the business, the Provenance Inns group, who own several other pubs and restaurants across North Yorkshire, issued a brief statement about the works on its website. 

“The Cleveland Tontine is currently closed for development. While this venue transforms, we’d love to welcome you to our other exceptional locations within the Provenance Collection,” a statement on the Provenance Inn website reads.

Confirmation of the closure for development on the Provenance Inn website (Image: PROVENANCE INNS) It’s unknown at this time how long the hotel will be closed while a renovation is undertaken, while the Cleveland Tontine no longer appears as an option on the venue section part of the Provenance Inn group website.

On TripAdvisor, the last review left for the Cleveland Tontine was in September 2024, while the last post on the Cleveland Tontine’s Facebook page dates back to August 2024.

The Provenance Inns group own The Oak Tree Inn (Helperby), The Punch Bowl Inn (Marton-Cum-Grafton), The Crown & Cushion (Welburn), The Carpenters Arms (Felixkirk), The Black Bull Inn (Moulton), The West Park Hotel (Harrogate), and The Coach & Horses (Harrogate).

The pub is rated highly, which has seen it reach a four-star ranking on both TripAdvisor and Google Reviews from over 1000 diners online.
