Cue Corner, a sports bar with pool, snooker and darts facilities, is opening on Saturday, January 25, on Carden Street.
Adam Townsend and his brother-in-law Alan Mitchum have been working hard to open the venue for the last few months, but the idea has existed for much longer.
Mr Townsend said: “Since the closure of Riley’s in 2020, there has been a huge lack of opportunities for snooker, darts and pool in Worcester.
“The county competition had to move to Kidderminster and the only places with snooker tables left in the city are social clubs, which are not open to everyone.”
Mr Townsend, who has played pool in the county leagues for more than two decades, had been looking for three years to launch their own venue to replace what the city lost.
He said: “Rental costs are at a premium in Worcester, and you have to take into account things like car parking and how much we can put into it.
“It’s finding that perfect mix of location, cost and funding.”

Cue Corner will have three snooker tables, eight pool tables and five darts boards in the venue, as well as a wide selection of food and drinks.
“We will have a fully licenced bar with two lagers, one bitter, Guinness and a cider on tap,” Mr Townsend said, “We will also have a menu that will start out fairly simple with things like pizza, burgers and chicken, but that we plan on developing as we go along.”
But what really makes it stand out is it’s commitment to welcoming people of all ages and backgrounds.
Mr Mitchum said: “There are lots of places that are still men-only and we don’t want that.
“You don’t get the next Luke Littler by not letting kids play in bars from a young age.
“Everyone is welcome and we want to encourage that.”
With opening day a week away and with huge interest shown by the public, the pair have already looked towards their future.
Mr Townsend said: “There is an opportunity to expand upstairs.
“If business goes well, we would like to add more snooker tables and pool tables in that space.”
