Jordan Green, 30, of Harrogate Lodge, Darlington, appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Monday, December 30, 2024, where he pleaded guilty to three offences committed on December 28, 2024.
These included driving while disqualified, taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, and driving without insurance.
The court heard that Green took a Suzuki vehicle without the owner’s permission and drove it on Clifton Road, Darlington, despite being disqualified from driving and uninsured.
Magistrates sentenced Green to a community order requiring him to complete 180 hours of unpaid work within 12 months.
He was also disqualified from driving for 34 months.
No separate penalty was imposed for the offence of driving without insurance, but his driving record was endorsed.

Prosecutor John Garside, representing CPS North East, outlined the seriousness of the offences, while defence counsel Andrew Teate highlighted Green’s early guilty pleas, which were taken into account when determining the sentence.
The court emphasised the severity of Green’s actions, particularly his disregard for legal restrictions and the potential risks to public safety.
Magistrates noted that the unpaid work requirement and extended driving disqualification were appropriate measures to address the offences.
