Serving staff at an Inverness pizzeria were assaulted by a 43-year-old Inverness man who then spat on the head of a police custody officer once he was taken to Burnett Road Police Station.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that Ryszard Kurowski, of Telford Road, had been arrested on June 1, 2024 after he seized the clothing of two counter staff at Domino’s in Academy Street.

He spat at the police officer on June 2 in a police cell where he spent the night.

Kurowski admitted both charges as well as pleading guilty to two other offences committed on March 16 and 17 of the same year.

Kurowski was found by police in a car in Carsegate Road North and they suspected he was under the influence of drugs.

However he failed to provide a blood sample to ascertain the level of his intoxication at Burnett Road Police Station and then vandalised the police cell there by etching writing on the cell door and urinating over the walls.

Defence solicitor Rory Gowans asked Sheriff Ian Cruickshank to defer sentence for a background report.

He said: “There is a background of poor mental health. But he is now medicated.”

Kurowski will return to court to be sentenced on February 20.
