The fire started at 10.12am January 13, inside the ‘PM Racing Team’ shop on Church Street in Shildon.
Inside the wreckage of the burned down shop (Image: The Northern Echo) A spokesperson for tCounty Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 10.12am today (Monday) we received a report of a fire within a shop on Church Street in Shildon.
“We immediately deployed firefighters to the area, with a total of five fire engines and one aerial ladder platform in attendance.”
Firefighters left the scene at 1.45 p.m.
All businesses within the cordon were closed and shop workers left so that the fire service could check that everything was saved.
There looks to be minimal damage – if any – to the nearby neighbouring properties.

Firefighters remained on scene for some time controlling the blaze and carrying out investigations into what started it. The cordon was removed at 1.35pm.
