Firefighters tackle blaze at seven-storey block in Borough – Southwark News

Firefighters tackled a blaze at a mixed commercial and residential building in Borough.

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to the incident on Long Lane at 7.41pm yesterday (Monday, January 6).

Part of a four-roomed flat on the fourth floor of the seven-storey building was damaged by fire. 

There were no reports of any injuries.

The fire was under control by 8.31pm.

Crews were deployed from Dowgate, Dockhead, Old Kent Road and Lambeth fire stations.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire at a mixed-use commercial and residential building on Long Lane in Southwark.

“Part of a four-roomed flat on the fourth floor of the seven-storey building was damaged by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.

“Control Officers were called about this fire at 1941 and mobilised crews from Dowgate, Dockhead, Old Kent Road and Lambeth fire stations to the scene. The fire was under control by 2031.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
