Tributes have been left at the spot where a man was killed in a collision in Wolverhampton. The 20-year-old driver died after his car struck a wall at the junction of Ettingshall Road and Bilston Road at around 1.35am on Tuesday, January 7.
Emergency services arrived to find the driver trapped and in a critical condition. Ambulance staff worked with fire crews to free him from the car, but despite the best efforts of paramedics, he died at the scene.
On Wednesday (January 8), bouquets were taped to railings and a lamppost in honour of the unnamed victim. His family are being supported by specialist officers at this difficult time.

West Midlands Police said in a statement: “We’re appealing for witnesses after a 20-year-old man has sadly died after the vehicle he was driving struck a wall in Wolverhampton. Officers were called to Ettingshall Road at its junction with Bilston Road shortly after 1.30am this morning (January 7).
“Despite the best efforts from officers and our colleagues from the ambulance service the man was declared dead at the scene. His family have been informed and our specially trained officers are supporting them at this difficult time.”

The road was closed for several hours following the fatal collision. West Midlands Metro trams were also temporarily unable to run between Priestfield and Wolverhampton.
