Former teacher and paedophile sentencing moved back

Richard Leighfield, of Threshfield Drive, Home Meadow, Worcester, was to be sentenced at Worcester Crown Court today (Friday).

The 53-year-old will now be sentenced on Thursday (January 23).

At Leighfield’s preliminary hearing in December, the court was told of how of how he had attempted to talk to a 13-year-old girl, who was in fact an undercover police officer, in a sexual manner.

On Tuesday, December 17, Leighfield pleaded guilty to a series of offences involving children under the age of 16, including:

  • Attempting to incite a 13-year-old into non-penetrative sexual activity
  • Attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child
  • Making of one category A indecent photo of a child
  • Making of eight category B indecent photos of a child
  • Making of 10 category C indecent photos of a child
  • Possessing a prohibited photo of a child

24-year-old Leon Adjei, of Canterbury Road, Worcester, was also due to be sentenced at Worcester Crown Court for child sex offences, including making 19 category A photos, two category B photos and 17 category C photos.

His sentencing has also been pushed back to Thursday (January 23).
