Funeral for newly engaged Lurgan cancer fighter to be held on Saturday – Armagh I

Funeral details have been announced for a “beautiful” and “inspirational” young Lurgan woman who died following her courageous battle with cancer.

Originally from Poland, Agnieszka Kreitner – known by many as ‘Aga’ – had been battling Stage Four cancer following her diagnosis in 2021.

She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 14 at Craigavon Area Hospital.

A funeral notice describes her as the much loved daughter of Maria and Grzegorz, loving sister of Edyta, Justyna and Lukasz, a dear sister in law of Jacek, loving auntie of Michal and a cherished granddaughter of Bogumila and Marian.

She was also the dearly beloved fiancé of Maciej, whom she had just recently become engaged to, making the happy announcement to her friends and family on Facebook on Christmas Eve.

A friend to many, tributes have been pouring in for the popular young woman who bore her illness so bravely.

In condolence, a former colleague said of Agnieszka: “So sorry to hear this sad news. Such a beautiful young girl.

“Wee fighter and such a fight you had. Such an inspiration, never let anything get you down. Rest easy wee angel, such a pleasure to worked along side you.”

A fellow cancer fighter added: “RIP beautiful girl. I had the pleasure of meeting you during my own treatment, your suffering is over rest in peace.

“My thoughts and prayers are with your loving family.”

Aga will repose at McAlinden & Murtagh’s Funeral Home, 43 Ardmore Road, Lurgan, BT66 6QP, on Friday from 2.00 pm until 6.00 pm where family and friends will be welcome to call and pay their respects.

A funeral will take place on Saturday at 11.30am to St. Peter’s Church, Lurgan where Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 12.00noon. Burial afterwards in St. Colman’s Cemetery.
