Kim McGuinness, the mayor of North East England, has launched a public transport consultation which closes on January 26.
The Haltwhistle Labour Group is encouraging communities in rural areas, including Haltwhistle and the South Tyne Valley, to share their thoughts on improvements to the public transport network.
They are also organising an open-door event on Friday, January 17, from 1pm to 6 pm, at the Old Booking Hall, Haltwhistle Station.
Led by Rachel Mathieson, the drop-in event will have volunteers available to assist those needing help filling in the online or paper survey.
The group emphasised that Haltwhistle requires public transport that is affordable, environmentally friendly, safe, reliable, well-connected, and accessible for wheelchair users.
Alongside attending the drop-in, residents can also complete a survey online at northeastca.gov.uk/localtransportplan.
Alternatively, they can write to the North East Combined Authority, The Lumen, St James’ Boulevard, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE4 5BZ, or send an email to haveyoursay@northeast-ca.gov.uk.
The group is hoping for a strong turnout from the community.
