Ryan Daly (27) from Portadown
Portadown man Ryan Daly, who was left in critical condition in hospital after an accident in Thailand, has died.
The 27-year-old was embarking on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure travelling the world when he was involved in a “devastating accident”.
His family had been maintaining a vigil at his bedside, where he had been for a number of days.
After Ryan went into hospital, Moneymore-based J&K Coaches Ltd, where Ryan had previously worked, launched a JustGiving fundraiser to support his family, which has so far raised over £36,000.
Ryan’s passing was announced by the coach firm on social media this morning (Friday).
A post published by J&K Coaches Ltd read: “This morning, we woke to the heart-wrenching news of Ryan’s passing.
“Our deepest condolences go out to his mum Julie, his sister Lucy, his extended family, friends, and colleagues during this profoundly difficult time.
Since launching our fundraiser on Wednesday, an incredible £36,487 has been raised (as of the time of this post), exceeding our target by nearly £17,000.”
It added: “We are deeply grateful to everyone who has donated, shared, commented, and sent kind messages of support through the page, the link, and across social media.
“Your words have been truly heartwarming, and we are confident that when Ryan’s family are ready, they will find great solace in reading them.
“Ryan was a remarkable person, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.”
The firm say the JustGiving page will remain open for those who wish to contribute further.
Ryan, who worked as an Ambulance Care Attendant in the J&K Ambulance Department, “shared a deep dedication to patient care alongside his mum and sister. He was known for his kindness, compassion, and unwavering commitment to helping others,” his former employer said.
