Highland Council is offering a salary worth more than £111,000 for candidates interested in taking up the vacant Inverness Royal Academy job.
The previous incumbent Nigel Engstrand was drafted in to lead the troubled Fortrose Academy without concluding the final recruitment process.
The lucrative offer does not stop at the salary and seven hours of work a day – assuming a Monday to Friday schedule – but also includes “a comprehensive relocation package which may be available to the successful candidate”.
The council said that as “a disability confident employer” it would “guarantee to interview all disabled applicants” who meet the minimum essential criteria requirements for the post”.
The job description stated: “The role of the head teacher is to work in collaboration with staff, pupils, parents, community and professional partners to provide vision, leadership and direction to ensure effective and high standards of education for all pupils.
“In implementing the vision within the resources available, the head teacher is required to conduct the affairs of the school to the benefit of the pupils and the community it serves, through pursuing objectives and implementing policies set by the education authority under the overall direction of the executive chief officer education and learning”.
The issue of head teachers at Highland Council has been a thorny one for a number of years with sudden removals from roles.
Candidates have until January 27 to apply for the role.
