Highland Council is pledging to get bin and food waste collections back up to speed in Inverness by early next week.
Numerous complaints of un-emptied wheelie bins and food caddies across the city were posted over the past week, particularly from Dalneigh, Kinmylies, Scorguie and Merkinch to the west of the River Ness.

Householders complained some collections were a fortnight overdue, while there was “rubbish everywhere” after high winds wreaked havoc with spillages of overflowing bins.
Highland Council insists prior warning was given over rescheduling of collections, but admitted the post-festive period catch-up in Inverness had been hit by poor weather.
A council spokesman said: “Bin and food caddie collections were rescheduled over the festive period.

“The bin sticker and online information informed householders: ‘If your bin is not emptied on the dates as detailed, please leave it out and we will collect it as soon as possible’.
“The rescheduled collections worked well in most areas, but some disruption to service was experienced, mainly in the Inverness area.
“The planned catch-up was slowed further by recent winter weather.
“We expect to have missed collections in some areas of Inverness up to date by early next week and thank householders for their understanding.”
