A huge search operation is underway on the Kent coast this afternoon.
Multiple emergency service vehicles – including a helicopter and lifeboats – were called to the Hythe area shortly before 3pm today.
Police and paramedics have also been spotted in Hythe and Sandgate.
Multiple coastguard crew members have been seen walking up and down the water’s edge, looking out towards the sea.
An RNLI lifeboat is circling 500 metres offshore while another is searching near Sandgate.

The coastguard helicopter is searching between Hythe and Sandgate.
There are about five coastguard vehicles and two police cars near the BP garage in Seabrook Road.

A coastguard spokesman said: “We are attending an incident at Princes Parade in Hythe, Kent.
“The alarm was raised at 2pm this afternoon.
“A coastguard rescue helicopter and coastguard rescue teams from Langdon, Folkestone and Romney Marsh have been called to the scene, alongside RNLI Dungeness and RNLI Dover lifeboats.
“Kent Police are on scene and the incident is ongoing.”
