A huge fire at a recycling plant has sparked a warning to the public, with people urged to “avoid the area”. Several fire crews are on scene this afternoon Sunday, January 5, to deal with the blaze near Bloomfield Road, Tipton.
West Midlands Fire Service said the incident is “generating a lot of smoke” in the area, and there are already traffic delays building. Six crews were working at the recycling site from around 9am this morning.
It is not known whether anyone was injured at this time. The fire service issued the warning on social media. It said: “We have 6 crews in attendance at a fire on Bloomfield Road, Tipton involving a recycling site. Please avoid the area, where possible.”

A spokesperson from West Midlands Fire Service later added: “We are currently in attendance at a fire near Bloomfield Road, Tipton. This incident is generating a lot of smoke and a lot of our crews are working at this incident – please avoid the area while our crews work, as there are already traffic delays in the area.”
