Fans across the UK and beyond have been left deeply saddened by the loss of The Vivienne, who died earlier this month at the age of just 32.
In their all-too-short life, The Vivienne, real name James Lee Williams, enjoyed a spectacular career. Named as UK Ambassador for RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2015, the Welsh drag queen went on to compete in the very first series of the UK show back in 2019. From there, their career continued to soar, and in 2023, they became the first drag act to compete on Dancing on Ice.
With a name inspired by iconic fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, whose clothing the star often wore, The Vivienne exuded style and luxury – and this extended to the beautiful home where they were tragically found dead.
The Vivienne had reportedly been preparing to move to a new, luxury £400,000 property, but at the time of their passing, they had been living in the six-bedroom Chorlton Manor House near Chester, as per the Daily Express.

Greatbritishlife.co.uk describes the Grade II listed Chorlton Manor House as “a beautifully presented, classic Georgian accommodation set over three floors” and a “perfect idyllic escape for country living and entertaining, all within easy reach of Chester city centre.”
There’s also a smart oak-panelled study, his and hers dressing rooms, spacious grounds, and several impressive reception rooms perfect for entertaining. However, despite the size and splendour of the property – which boasts silk carpets – it’s believed The Vivienne had been living there alone.
Sadly, it was at this lavish property where The Vivienne’s “devastated” father and stepmother reportedly found them dead on Sunday, January 5.

A police spokesperson issued the following statement at the time: “Police attended, investigated the circumstances of the death of the 32-year-old man and concluded there were no suspicious circumstances. A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
Meanwhile, shortly after the heartbreaking discovery was made, a source told The Sun: “Their devastated dad raised the alarm and believed they had passed away a day or two before being found. James was due to move to a £400,000 house next week, and had a holiday lined up. They were planning a tour and really had everything to live for.”
This comes after hundreds of fans gathered in Liverpool to pay tribute to The Vivienne., leaving grieving loved ones “completely overwhelmed by the outpouring of love”. The vigil was held yesterday (Sunday, January 12). on the steps of St George’s Hall, with attendees including fellow Drag Race stars and soap stars.

Buildings were lit up in green to pay tribute to The Vivienne, who last year played the Wicked Witch of the West in the UK touring production of The Wizard of Oz, whilst balloons were released in a touching display of remembrance.
Family friend Bobby Musker read out a statement on behalf of The Vivienne’s family: “As a family, we are completely overwhelmed by the outpouring of love for James, The Vivienne.
From an early age, it was evident they were destined for the stage… they were determined to pave their own way in this world. The road was not easy, but the dream never, ever changed, and James would always tell us that they would make it happen, and they did. We will miss you for an eternity, and for an eternity, we will all love you.”
