Inverness Castle’s new tourist attraction recruiting for three jobs

The Inverness Castle Experience is hiring managers for visitor services, food and drink, and retail, with applications now open.

The former home of the Highland city’s prison and courts is being repurposed into an interactive visitor centre that celebrates the area’s culture, history and people.

It has been organised by High Life Highland, the cultural arm of The Highland Council, with funding from the Scottish Government, UK Government and other tourism focused enterprises.

Councillor Ian Brown, leader of Inverness City and Area and co-chair of the Inverness Castle Project Delivery Group, said: “We are delighted to be recruiting for these key senior roles as part of the Inverness Castle Experience.

“We’re looking for individuals passionate about showcasing our region’s beauty and stories whilst providing exceptional service to visitors.”

The advertised roles will be involved in overseeing the visitor experience, operating the venue’s catering offerings and managing the on-site shop respectively.

Garry Marsden, head of Inverness Castle Experience, said: “These roles are central to the success of the Inverness Castle Experience.

“This is a rare opportunity to help shape a new chapter in the Highland’s story, and we look forward to welcoming a talented team to join us.”

The £30 million project has involved renovation works to the exterior gardens and the building’s interior, as well as adding a new cafe and terrace overlooking the River Ness.

One tower of the castle will be home to a sensory museum experience where visitors will be guided by a “seanchaidh” or storyteller.

The other tower will host the Ceilidh Rooms, devoted to celebrating Inverness’s musical and social culture, and will feature music and stories from Scots favourites Runrig.

The closing date for job applications is January 31, with the roles due to start in May.

No opening date has yet been provided for the experience.
