A 44-year-old Inverness man has been remanded in custody after being accused of disgusting and threatening behaviour towards ambulance paramedics and Raigmore Hospital staff.
It is alleged that on January 5 at a house in Gilbert Street and on an ambulance journey to Raigmore Hospital, Gareth Benbow refused to co-operate with the paramedics; repeatedly made derogatory comments towards them; threatened to be sick and throw it over the ambulance floor so they would have to clean it up and further threatened to defecate, urinate and be sick and throw it over medical staff at Raigmore Hospital.

Benbow made no plea to that charge and a charge of breaching a bail condition not to use the 999 service unless there was a genuine emergency by telling them he would self-harm, causing an ambulance to be sent to his address when this was not the case and there was no emergency.
He also made no plea to a third charge of repeatedly swearing and making derogatory remarks to police on January 5 in the course of a journey from Raigmore Hospital to Burnett Road Police Station.
Benbow was represented by Inverness solicitor David Patterson and was committed for further examination by Sheriff Ian Cruickshank. He will appear again at Inverness Sheriff Court this month.
