Police had to arrest a 23-year-old mechanic after he became involved in a festive altercation with a group of men for a second time.
Officers on mobile patrol in Inverness’s Academy Street stopped their vehicle to intervene in the disturbance and one of the men, Jamie Bryson, was separated from them and told to move on.
Fiscal depute Karen Poke told Inverness Sheriff Court that the police remained on watch near the taxi rank but Bryson returned and got involved again, leading to his arrest.

Ms Poke said: “He was taken hold of by the arm and told he was being arrested. But he pulled away and thrashed his arms about saying he wasn’t going to be arrested.
“The police managed to place one handcuff on but he continued to thrash his arms around. Eventually he was handcuffed and when other officers arrived to assist, he was placed in a police van.”
Bryson, of Bruce Avenue, Inverness admitted the offence of resisting arrest which was committed on December 27, 2023 just after 4am.
His lawyer, David Patterson told Sheriff Ian Cruickshank: “Alcohol had been consumed but this is out of character for him. His brother had been assaulted prior to this. There has been nothing since and he knows he should have complied with the police.
“Then he might not have been here today.”
Bryson was fined £420.
