Inverness Stagecoach bus route between city centre and Ness Castle taken over by Highland Council’s in-house service

Highland Council will add an Inverness city network route to its services after Stagecoach announced they would no longer be providing the service.

The council’s in-house service is set to deliver the service between Ness Castle and Inverness City centre.

The Ness-Castle/Holm Park/Ness-side/Dores Road/Inverness City bus service will be delivered by the council’s in-house fleet from Monday, January 13 – a further addition after the launch of the first buses in January 2023.

The bus service will follow the existing route from Ness Castle terminating at Castle St and will operate 6 days a week (Mondays – Saturdays). It will be numbered Service 16.

Chair of the Economy and Infrastructure Committee, Councillor Ken Gowans said: “I’m delighted to announce that Highland Council Buses has been able to provide a replacement bus service which will start on Monday 13 January.

“I’d like to thank our bus staff for their quick action to step in and make all the necessary arrangements, so the public are not inconvenienced in any way. This is a route that services several housing developments and many people depend on having a reliable regular bus service into and out of the city centre. This clearly demonstrates the advantage of having an in-house bus service.”

Details of the timetable will shortly be available on the Highland Council Buses dedicated webpage and Facebook page.
