Ivybank Vets, which covers West Kilbride, Kilwinning, Irvine, and Kilmarnock, donated the money to the Ayrshire Rivers Trust.
The money will help the charity plant riparian trees at their Mauchline burn restoration project.
The clinical team at Ivybank Vets applied for a community grant from the practice’s parent company, IVC Evidensia, to help promote sustainability in the local area.
They decided Ayrshire Rivers Trust plays a vital role in supporting healthy water and riverbanks, and it was important to support this work.
Lyndsey Ciarcia, a veterinary nurse from Ivybank Vets, said: “Our team here, by the very nature of caring for animals, already play a really valuable and positive role in the community, but it’s brilliant we’ve been able to win a community grant for Ayrshire Rivers Trust because being able to donate to this cause and help them conserve and enhance our waterways will benefit everyone living in the local area.”
Ayrshire Rivers Trust is an environmental charity based near Mauchline in the heart of Ayrshire.
The primary aim of the trust is to create, promote, and support initiatives designed to conserve and enhance river environments.
Carolyn Bryce, a biologist from Ayrshire Rivers Trust, said: “We’re so grateful to the team at Ivybank Vets for selecting us for their community grant.
“The donation will make a big difference in helping us deliver river restoration projects across Ayrshire.
“To achieve our aims, we work with angling interests and associations, landowners, local and national partners and have a long track record of engaging local communities and volunteers for the benefit of our river catchments and the wider community.
“As with all our work, we strive to include wider benefits for biodiversity, communities and other stakeholders.”
Ivybank Vets is part of IVC Evidensia, which launched its Community Grants Fund in early 2022.
The company has committed to donating 300 community grants in 2022 and aims to make 1,000 grants by 2025.
