Network Rail says it expects delays and cancellations to services stopping at the station until the end of the day, reports Marco Marcelline
A track defect between Tottenham Hale and Lea Bridge has caused significant disruption at Lea Bridge Station today, with numerous delays and cancellations to services.
In a statement on its website, Network Rail has blamed the problem on a points failure. Points are movable sections of track which allow trains to move from one line to another.
The routes that are currently affected are Bishops Stortford – Stratford, Hertford East – Stratford, and Meridian Water – Stratford. Trains to and from Bishops Stortford are suspended while those to and from Hertford East are cancelled. A limited service is running between Meridian Water and Stratford. Trains to and from London Liverpool Street are unaffected.
Network Rail has advised customers travelling between Stratford and Tottenham Hale to go via London Liverpool Street, where their tickets will be valid at no extra cost.
Customers can travel to Lea Bridge on the following bus routes at no extra charge: 97 from Stratford to Bakers Arms before changing for either the 55 or 56 bus to Lea Bridge or just the 55 to Tottenham Hale.
