Leigh Creek Southend Coastguard help rescue adult and child

At 8.19pm on Saturday, the coastguard were tasked with aiding the “extraction of persons from a stranded vessel” in the creek. 

The Coastguard helped assess the situation on the boat and arranged the rescue of a two passengers via an RNLI hovercraft. 

A spokesman said: “Southend Coastguard coordinated directly with the persons onboard to determine their status and welfare before arranging for one minor and one adult to be extracted via the RNLI Hovercraft and taken back to the RNLI Inshore boat house to be met by Coastguard Officers

“Should you see anyone in trouble on or near the coast, don’t hesitate to dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard, you could save someone’s life.”

On the same day at 11.27am the coastguard were called to reports of a dead animal, found to be a fox, in the Shoebury Garrison MOD beaches which was reported for removal. 

Later, at 4.20pm, the coastguard also responded to reports of “something struggling in the water” off of Ocean Beach, Southchurch. 

This was later found to be a seal, enjoying its natural habitat.
