The driver was trapped in the vehicle with potentially serious injuries after the crash at 11am today (Wednesday).
A large emergency service presence, including an ambulance, a critical care car and five fire engines, rescued the man from the lorry.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 11.14am to a road traffic collision on the M5 between junctions 5 and 6 in Rashwood, Droitwich.
“One ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car attended the scene who, upon arrival, found a man who was the driver of the HGV.
“He was assessed and had sustained potentially serious injuries.
“He received treatment at the scene before being taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for further assessment.”

A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: “Five crews – one each from Evesham, Bromsgrove and Droitwich and two from Worcester – plus the incident command unit from Droitwich were called at 11.47am to a collision involving a large vehicle.
“The vehicle collided with the central reservation and one person was medically trapped.”
Two lanes of the M5 southbound were closed to allow emergency services to reach the crash, causing significant delays between Junction 4A and Junction 6.
At 12.25pm, northbound traffic was briefly held so one lane could be closed to allow emergency services to reach the driver’s side of the vehicle.
Once the driver had been safely freed from the vehicle, National Highways was called out to recover the vehicle.
The vehicle was recovered by 2.55pm and traffic was moving by 3.30pm.
