A man has been arrested after a cyclist was seriously injured in a suspected ‘hit and run’. The cyclist was struck by a silver BMW in Kings Heath on Friday evening, January 3.
The rider, aged in his 20s, suffered severe injuries and was rushed to hospital, where police say he remains in a serious condition. The incident took place in Brandwood Park Road just before 9.25pm.
A 30-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, West Midlands Police confirmed. The force said it was continuing its investigation after a silver BMW “failed to stop at the scene.”

Anyone with information, or dashcam footage, was urged to get in touch. A fresh statement from the police force read: “Officers investigating after a cyclist was seriously injured when hit by a car in Birmingham have made an arrest.
“A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. This is after a collision in Brandwood Park Road yesterday evening.
“A cyclist was hit by a silver BMW which failed to stop at the scene. The cyclist remains in hospital in a serious condition.
