The body of a man has been discovered at a property in Gwynedd, sparking a joint investigation by police and fire officers into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. North Wales Police reported that they were called to the house near Pwllheli on Sunday, January 12, following an “unexpected death” report of a 55-year-old man.
The North Wales Fire and Rescue Service was also called to the scene after reports of a fire at the property. Residents reported seeing multiple police cars and a forensic team at the Bro Cynfil address in Penrhos during Monday afternoon and late into the evening. The deceased man’s family has been notified and investigations continue, according to North Wales Police.
A police spokesperson stated: “Police attended a property in the Pwllheli area on Sunday, January 12, following a report of the unexpected death of a 55-year-old man. The man’s family and the coroner have been informed. We continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death jointly with the fire service.”
The fire service was called to the property at 4.10pm on Sunday, having been requested to attend by North Wales Police, reports North Wales Live. A spokesperson for the fire service confirmed: “Sadly, the body of a man had been found by officers inside the property. One crew and one officer attended following reports of evidence of a fire at the property, and confirmed there was no longer a live fire situation.”
