McDonald’s Southend crash: 19-year-old woman arrested

Diners were shocked after a Ford car drove through the railings and smashed into a table outside the restaurant in Eastern Avenue on Saturday.

Police have since confirmed a 19-year-old woman, from Leigh, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and taken to hospital.

Essex Police say their enquiries are ongoing. A spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a collision at the McDonald’s in Eastern Avenue, Southend at around 9.05pm on January 11.

“A car had been in collision with a table outside the restaurant.

“A 19 year-old woman from Leigh was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and taken to hospital.”
