The first snow fall of 2025 has swept the nation overnight causing traffic disruption and inconveniences for people.

Snow for today, Sunday December 5, is currently forecasted to fall between 10pm tonight and continue until 11am tomorrow.
The Met Office amber alert for ‘Snow’ continues over today ending tonight as well as a yellow warning for ‘Snow and Ice’.
Sunday Morning:
Snow is expected to be falling until 1 p.m. today with a mix of rain as well.
9am: 1C with >95% chance of rain/ sleet or snow
10am: 1C with >95% chance of rain/ sleet or snow
11am: 1C with >95% chance of rain/ sleet or snow
12pm: 1C with >95% chance of rain
1pm: 1C with >95% chance of rain
2pm: 1C with >95% chance of rain
3pm: 2C with >95% chance of rain
Winds of up to 25mph are also expected across the region across this time period on Sunday, January 4.
The Met Office describes todays weather as “cold with snow giving significant accumulations, especially over Pennines with the risk of blizzard conditions. Perhaps turning to rain on coasts. Windy, particularly along coastal districts.”

The Met Office describes this evenings weather as “Cold with snowfall continuing overnight and adding to accumulations with the risk of blizzards on the Pennines. Snow becoming lighter in places towards dawn. Remaining windy, particularly along coastal areas.”
Going into Monday, January 6, the Met Office predicts that there will be no more snowfall and that is should clear by late afternoon. Although bad weather and wintry showers may remain.
