Moray Council sets about tree maintenance work at Cooper Park in Elgin and Grant Park in Forres

Eight trees in the biggest parks in Elgin and Forres are to be cut down and replaced.

Moray Council says that, between January and March, a major programme of tree maintenance will be carried out on its behalf by Speyside Tree Services Ltd.

Cooper Park in Elgin.

Work will take place in Elgin’s Cooper Park to revitalise 120 trees through pruning and the removal of damaged branches. A further six trees will be felled and replaced during the next planting season.

Similar work will also carried out on 74 trees at Grant Park in Forres, with another two being felled and replaced.

Councillor Marc Macrae, who chairs the council’s Infrastructure Services committee, said: “This essential tree maintenance programme will not only help preserve the health and safety of the trees in both parks, but also enhance the beauty of these important community spaces.

“I would ask members of the public to respect any cordons put in place while these works are carried out, and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”
