Pershore Plus Volunteer Centre announces English Channel swim

The Pershore Plus Volunteer Centre has announced a unique relay challenge for Saturday, March 29, at Pershore Leisure Centre.

The aim is to collectively swim 21 miles, the equivalent of the channel, within the leisure centre’s pool.

This distance equates to 1,352 lengths of the pool.

The event is open to all, regardless of swimming experience.

Participants can swim as many or as few lengths as they wish, with every length contributing to the overall goal.

Kim Macdonald, volunteer coordinator at the centre, said: “We want this event to be an opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to come together in a fun, supportive environment.

“This is a chance to challenge yourself, meet others in the community, and most importantly, help raise much-needed funds for our work supporting local volunteers.”

The event is free to participate in, but participants are encouraged to raise money through sponsorship.

The funds raised will go directly to the centre to support its ongoing work in the community.

Swimmers can sign up as individuals or as part of a team.

Every length swam will help the community reach the Channel swim challenge and support the centre’s work.

The event will take place from 4pm to 7pm at the centre on King George’s Way.

To register for the event or for more information, contact the centre at 01386 554299 or email admin@pershorevolunteers.org.uk.
