The initiative, by Pershore Plus Volunteer Centre, offers both face-to-face and telephone befriending.
It aims to provide companionship, emotional support, and community to those in need.
The service is currently in its soft launch phase, offering a limited number of placements.
It is available to those who feel lonely or isolated, including people with mental health challenges.
Karon Swinburn, CEO, said: “We understand that the challenges of isolation and loneliness can be overwhelming, especially in times like these.
“Our volunteer team is here to listen, support, and provide a sense of companionship to those who may be struggling.
“We believe in the power of human connection, and we’re eager to begin helping people reconnect to the support they deserve.”
The project is powered by a dedicated group of volunteers who match individuals with trained and compassionate befrienders.
These befrienders offer both emotional support and practical assistance where needed.
They engage in meaningful conversations, either in person or over the phone, providing comfort, companionship, and a friendly ear.
The soft launch will allow the team to gather feedback from participants, volunteers, and partners to refine the programme.
They aim to ensure it meets the highest standards of care and service.
As part of the launch, the programme is also looking for new volunteers who are passionate about making a positive impact in their community.

The centre is an independent charity, originally launched in 1984.
It is dedicated to supporting residents facing rural or social isolation and has been working to reduce loneliness for over 40 years.
