Police incident round-up: woman found dead, appeal for dashcam footage following car crime spree

Here is a round-up of the latest news from police incidents across Gloucestershire as of Monday, January 6.

A woman who was reported missing from Forest of Dean on January 3 is believed to have died after her car was located a short distance away – and a woman was declared deceased by police.

Michelle, 67, was last seen leaving an address in Ellwood at around 11.45am on Friday morning, in a white Ford Fiesta. A missing person appeal was filed later that day.

Police issued an update on January 4, saying Michelle’s car was found in Bream, and that a woman was found dead. Formal identification has not yet taken place, but Michelle’s next of kin have been informed, police say.

Officers had carried out a search during Friday evening, assisted by the National Police Air Service as well as members of the public. The circumstances of the death are not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

Police have thanked the public for sharing the appeal, and those who called in with information about possible sightings of the vehicle.

Police are appealing for dashcam footage in a bid to identify suspected burglars who fled the scene of a crime near Cheltenham in multiple vehicles.

The incident happened last week and officers would like to speak to anyone who saw either one or more vehicles being driven erratically or in a dangerous manner on the A40 between 4pm and 9pm on Friday 27 December.

Alternatively, they are keen to hear about any cars that appeared to be being driven in convoy between Charlton Kings and Andoversford. It is believed that those involved may have been attempting to conceal themselves using face coverings and hats.

It is believed that the occupants of the cars may have been involved in a burglary at a premises earlier that day. Officers would like to speak to them in connection with the incident, which involved five people who fled with stolen items.

Anybody with information or dashcam footage which they believe to be relevant is asked to contact Gloucestershire Constabulary through the website, quoting incident 212 of 3 January: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/contact/af/contact-us/us/a-crime-that-has-already-been-reported/
