Police issue warning to street racers after crackdown on major Midlands road

Four arrests were made in an illegal street racing clampdown, which saw several vehicles seized. Motorists caught breaking the speed limit were also warned they ‘would be prosecuted’.

West Midlands Police focused its attention on Kenrick Way in West Bromwich over the weekend, following reports of motorists traveling at ‘excessive speeds’. The busy dual carriageway was notoriously used as a ‘racetrack’ by car cruisers, despite a High Court injunction being in place, which bans the dangerous hobby across the Black Country.

Officers from the force’s Operation Hercules team clocked speeds of up to 62mph in the 40mph zone. On Saturday night, officers from Birmingham and West Bromwich also made four arrests, with suspects having their vehicles seized.
