Romsey Town Council decides not to object to new house plans

The Aster Group has applied to Test Valley Borough Council for permission to demolish the garages, on land south of Viney Avenue, and build a pair of three-bedroom houses in their place.

The application also covers the construction of associated access, as well as parking and landscaping.

The plans were discussed at the Romsey Town Council planning committee on Thursday, January 9, with civic chiefs deciding not to object to the plans.

Cllr Janet Burnage said: “I do not have any issues with it. I think we need these houses.”

Cllr Sandra Gidley said: “This is quite concerning trend. I think Highways said there is a lack of parking. In my mind, I would be unhappy to go through with it. There are a lot of people, neighbours, objecting to it.”

Cllr Russell Theron said: “There is quite a lot of objections from residents. They are not going to be overlooked.”

Cllr John Critchley said: “I think we need to say that we hear Highways’ comments.”

The committee voted to not object to the application.
