Salisbury public toilets: ‘Toilet attendants are obsolete’

The cost of the Market Square toilets is due to the contract to provide continuous staffing. The public toilets at the P&R no longer have attendants.

There are no attendants at the railway station toilets, or at Old Sarum, or the Wilton Shopping Village, or Pewsey, or Fordingbridge, Ringwood etc.

All Salisbury needs do is to enter the 21st century and cancel the contract for continuous staffing of the Market Square toilets. They can then remain open.

No additional expenditure on special locks, no compromising the disabled loos.

It reminds me of when we used to pay for a man on his motor scooter to go round Victoria Park at night locking all the gates, and then the same again in the morning, to unlock them.

It must have wasted thousands on my rates.
