Select Fashion Kidderminster: Shoppers react to closure

The national clothing chain at the Swan Centre in the town centre is the latest shop set to close down.

Kidderminster residents have shared their sadness and frustration at the news on social media.

Sharon Wiltshire said: “There will be nothing left in that centre”.

Monique Williams said: “Another one gone just adding to the ghost town”

Kath Watters added: “This place is getting like a ghost town. Like the Specials sing.”

Others raised concerns over online shopping affecting trade on high streets.

Martin Snow said: “Perhaps if people didn’t keep buying things online everything would be better and towns grow again.

“Kidderminster has been ruined by this”.

Wendy Fox added: “Since Covid with more people buying online – Amazon is booming – the only things to survive are coffee shops, charity shops, vape shops and nail salons”.

In a post on Facebook, the fashion brand announced with “sadness” that its Kidderminster store would be closing at the end of January.

Select Fashion said: “The whole team of Kidderminster would like to thank all our lovely customers over the past months for all your support and love you have given us.

“We would advise of any credit vouchers issued to use them in time before we close our doors end of January 2025.

“Please do come and support us and we would love to see you all before we close. Thank you”.
