Jayden Gubetini was sentenced at Reading Crown Court today (January 7) after the killing on May 6, 2023.

The 18-year-old, of Coe Spur, Slough was found guilty of multiple offences on October 24 following a nine-week trial.

The jury convicted him of murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit robbery and section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent.

The court heard how Cameron Bailey, from West Sussex, and his friend had both travelled from Brighton to High Wycombe in May 2023.

On May 6, Jayden Gubetini travelled from Slough to High Wycombe and robbed both victims of drugs.

The incident was not reported at the time.

The following day Gubetini returned to the Bucks town, alongside Cordice, Pattinson and Solomon where they robbed the two teenagers again in King’s Court, Easton Street.

Cameron Bailey was fatally stabbed and his friend suffered a fractured skull and cuts to his head and hand, requiring surgery.

Despite the best efforts of the ambulance service, the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene with a later post-mortem finding he died due to a stab wound to the back.

The Major Crime Unit launched an investigation, leading to the arrest and charge of Cordice, Pattinson, Solomon and Cato on May 11 and 12.

Gubetini fled to the Netherlands but was returned to the UK on July 5, 2023, before appearing in court the next day.

He was sentenced for grievous bodily harm with intent in relation to an assault at HMP Bullingdon on May 8 where he slashed another inmate to the face with an improvised blade.

Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Stuart May, of the Major Crime Unit, said: “Gubetini is a dangerous individual who, despite his age, has demonstrated his intent to repeatedly use serious violence.

“Gubetini will now face the consequences of his actions by serving a significant custodial sentence, reflecting the gravity of the offences committed.

“At the conclusion of this case I am mindful of the unimaginable impact this has had on the family of Cameron Bailey and his friend.

“They have had to endure many months of pain while we investigated his murder, and I would like to thank them for their patience and dignity, and for putting their trust in our investigation.

“This was a complex investigation, and through diligent investigative work, we were able to identify the men involved in the death of Cameron Bailey and who will now spend a significant time behind bars.

“Too often, we are reminded of the danger of carrying and using knives, the devastating consequences and the impact such a short moment in time has on the victim, their family and friends.

“Harsher consequences have now been brought in, meaning you will end up in court and habitual offenders will trigger mandated minimum sentences more quickly. There are no second chances.

“If you are caught in possession of a knife in public in the Thames Valley, Operation Deter will seek to robustly charge and remand you and place you before the courts.

“We are resolute in our determination to make our communities safer by removing knives from our streets.”
