A VAN driver caught speeding on a main Basildon road has been fined.
Graham Brooker, 75, was behind the wheel of a Ford Transit when he was recorded going above the 30 miles per hour limit on Nethermayne on April 6.
He was also caught going above the same limit on Southend Road in Stanford-le-Hope on May 28.
Brooker, of Hillary Mount, Billericay, admitted both speeding offences at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday where he was fined £73 and handed three penalty points.
A MAN who failed to surrender to custody has been slapped with a fine.
Simon Price, 38, did not surrender to court bail at Southend Magistrates’ Court on December 30, having been released in criminal proceedings on December 12.
Price, of Dapple Close, Rochford, admitted the offence at Southend Magistrates’ Court last Friday where he was handed a fine of £40.
No order for prosecution costs was made.
A DRINK-DRIVER who failed to stop after a crash in Basildon has been banned from the roads.
Kelly King, 38, was driving a white Mercedes in Forest Glade when she failed to stop after an Audi was damaged after a crash on December 5.
She was also found with 108 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The limit is 35.
King, of Northampton Grove, Langdon Hills, admitted both offences at Southend Magistrates’ Court last Monday, when she was banned from driving for two years.
She was also ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work.
A DRINK driver caught above the limit in Southend has been banned from the roads.
Blake Sims, of The Broadway, Thorpe Bay, was driving along Church Road when he was found with 55 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on December 21. The limit is 35.
The 20-year-old admitted the offence at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday where he was banned from driving for a year and three months.
He was also fined £374.
A WOMAN who failed to stop while drink driving in Leigh has been banned.
Ellie Hare, 37, was driving a Ford Focus along London Road when she failed to stop on December 19. She was found with 131 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
Hare, of Hilltop Close, Rayleigh, admitted both offences at Southend Magistrates’ Court last Monday when she was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for a year. She was given 40 hours unpaid work and was banned from driving for two years and five months.
A MAN who failed to give a breath test has been fined more than £1,000.
John Moffat, of Grand Parade, Leigh, did not provide a specimen of breath to police in Clacton in the course of an investigation into whether he had committed an offence on December 14.
He admitted the offence at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday where he was fined £1,060 and banned from driving for a year and two months.
The 51-year-old was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £424.
A WOMAN caught drink driving in Westcliff has been banned from the roads.
Tilly Claydon, 26, was behind the wheel of a Ford Fiesta in Southbourne Grove when she was found with 55 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on December 14.
She admitted the offence at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday where she was banned from driving for a year.
Claydon, of Crowstone Road, Westcliff, was also fined £292.
A CROOK who damaged a man’s car has been ordered to pay out over £1,000.
Daniel Bullard, of Whitmore Way, Basildon, damaged the man’s vehicle to the value of £285 on August 6, 2022.
He had denied the offence but changed his plea to guilty at Southend Magistrates’ Court last Friday.
The 41-year-old was ordered to pay £285 back in compensation as well as a fine of £160.
He must also pay £650 in prosecution costs and a £64 surcharge to fund victim services, the court ordered.
A DRINK driver has been fined more than £400 after being caught above the limit in a main road.
Conor Hurley, 26, was driving a Ford Fiesta along Kent Hill Road in Benfleet when he was found with 81 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on December 8. The limit is 35.
He admitted the offence at Southend Magistrates’ Court on Monday where he was banned from driving for a year and nine months.
Hurley, of Villa Road, Benfleet, was also fined £438, ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a surcharge of £175.
A MOTORIST caught speeding in a main road has been banned from the roads for half a year.
Iavor Kolev, of Mistley Path, Basildon, was driving a Lexus on the A406 in New Southgate, north London, when he was recorded going above 50 miles per hour on January 17.
He had also been caught going above 40 miles per hour on the A20 in Bexley on July 3.
He admitted both offences at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
The 45-year-old was handed fines totalling £200 and banned from the roads for six months.
A MAN who failed to hand details to police has been given a driving ban.
Ladislav Ferenc, 48, failed to give information to the chief officer of police in Billericay relating to an MG driver alleged to have been guilty of an offence on August 28.
The offence was proved in his absence and Ferenc, of Chain Lane, Mickleover, Derbyshire, was banned from driving for six months at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
He was also fined £180, ordered to pay prosecution costs of £110 and a surcharge to fund victim services of £72.
A DRUG driver caught above the limit in Basildon has been banned from the roads.
Billy Jenkins, 32, was driving a Vauxhill Astra along Ashlyns when he was found with 466 micrograms of benzoylecgonine – a major metabolite of cocaine – per litre of blood in his system on June 24. The limit is 50.
He admitted the offence at Southend Magistrates’ Court last Monday where he was banned from driving for a year and five months.
Jenkins, of Long Gages, Basildon, was also handed 60 hours of unpaid work.
A MAN who failed to give information to a police boss has been fined more than £600.
Shujed Ahmed, 33, failed to give details to the chief officer of Essex Police in Billericay relating to the driver of a Hyundai accused of an offence on February 6.
The offence was proved via the single justice procedure at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court last Tuesday and Ahmed, of Kingston Road, Ilford, was banned from driving for six months.
He was also fined £600, ordered to pay £110 costs and a £240 surcharge.

Syful Alam, of Lutea Close, Laindon, was behind the wheel of a Nissan Qashqai in Colchester Road, Colchester, when he was found with 41 micrograms of alcohol in his breath on May 26. The limit is 25.
The 58-year-old admitted the offence and was banned from driving for a year at Colchester Magistrates’ Court last Thursday.
He was also fined £623, ordered to pay prosecution costs of £300 and a surcharge to fund victim services of £249.
A MAN found in possession of a class B drug has been hit with a fine.
Jamie Copping, of Rochford Garden Way, Rochford, was in Navestock when he was found with a quantity of cannabis on December 5.
He admitted the offence at Southend Magistrates’ Court last Monday where he was fined £80.
The 35-year-old was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a surcharge to fund victim services of £32.
