Strathpuffer goodwill flows for Black Isle schoolgirl’s give back fundraiser

The team supporting the Fraser family’s fundraiser have been getting in some hard core practice ahead of this weekend’s Strathpuffer.

THE big-hearted gesture of a Black Isle couple keen to pay back the care given to their daughter over a prolonged period has inspired a magnificent response from well-wishers.

A hardy team of cyclists representing Alma Fraser will be amongst hundreds taking on a snow-clad Strathpuffer 24-hour challenge this weekend.

Alma (12) was diagnosed with a spinal tumour at the end of May 2024 at Raigmore Hospital.

She underwent a month of neurosurgery at Royal Children’s Hospital Glasgow and then moved to Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital in July for further surgery – and to begin a course of chemotherapy lasting over a year.

The Fortrose Academy pupil and her parents, Kenny and Maru, are giving back to The Archie Foundation – which supports families facing such predicaments.

Mum Maru said: “We’re delighted that the fundraising stands at over £4000 now for the Archie Foundation and the Highland Children’s Unit, supporting local children and families affected by serious illness.

“The bike riders have been out in snowy conditions at night to test their warm socks. Everyone is looking forward to the weekend’s chilly challenge.”
