A man from Sudbury was jailed for 15 years after a ‘nasty and vicious’ robbery that left two people tied up and injured in their own home.
Shaun Roadnight, 44, was sentenced at St Albans Court, north of London, on Thursday after a three-day trial at the same court in September of last year, where he was found guilty by a jury.
It follows a robbery in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, last year, in which a man and a woman where attacked and left injured.

His accomplice has not been charged and brought to justice.
Detective Constable Hazel Grant, of the Milton Keynes Priority Crime Team, said: “This was a nasty and vicious assault where the victims were subjected to a prolonged assault not knowing the capabilities of the offenders and whether they would survive the assault.
“The sentence Roadnight received is justified and reflects the gravity of his offences.”
At about 6.15pm on April 11, a woman in her 30s returned to her home in Scotch Firs, Wavendon Gate.
She used an electronic fob to drive her car through the gate of the property but did not lock it as she intended to walk her dog.
But as she stepped through the front door, she was hit from behind, causing her to fall onto her back.
The woman immediately started to scream as she saw a man dressed in black bearing down on her.
Another man then forcefully put his hand over her mouth to stop her.
A man in his fifties – who was in the upstairs office – heard the screaming and came down, but was grabbed by one of the men, who began beating him.
Over the next hour and 45 minutes, the men tied both victims to a bed using cable ties, assaulted them and sprayed the contents of a fire extinguisher over them.
They also smashed a glass bottle over the male victim’s head, dragged them from room to room and down stairs.
The men asked the victims where the safe was before one of them took a black and gold watch from a bedside table.
The female eventually escaped the house and ran to the neighbour to call the police.
Officers arrived in six minutes and saw Roadnight acting suspiciously in the ground of the victim’s property, before he fled through a hole in the fence.
He was found and arrested after a member of the public told police they had seen him discarding clothing in a bin on the estate.
A search of his possessions found the watch stolen from victim’s house.
The male victim suffered a bleed to the left side of the front of his brain, three fractured ribs, a cut to the right side of his upper back and bruising to his left eye socket, the left side of his face, both cheeks and upper jaw.
The female was left with bruising and reddening along her arms, legs and wrists where she was tied up.
Roadnight was charged on April 12 last year.
Following a three-day trail in September, Roadnight was found guilty by a majority verdict of two counts each of robbery and false imprisonment, and one count each of Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent and assault,. occasioning actual bodily harm.
Detenctive Constable Hazel Grant added: “While we did make other arrests in relation to this robbery, we have been unable to charge anyone else and bring the second offender to justice.
“Anyone with information that might help us to do that should call 101 or make a report on our website, quoting reference number 43240164210. It’s never too late to come forward.”
