Pellet guns can appear to be real firearms to the untrained eye

An investigation is underway after a suspected pellet gun was fired at a house in Kirkdale. Merseyside Police believe the incident was “a case of mistaken identity”, as new occupants have recently moved in to the house.
Detectives received a report of criminal damage to the windows of the house, on Alfonso Road, at 8.45pm on Tuesday, January 14. Nobody inside the property was hurt.
Inspector Peter Stevens said: “We are in the early stages of the investigation to establish the circumstances of what has taken place however damage caused to the windows appears to be consistent with a pellet gun.

“We believe this incident is a case of mistaken identity as new occupants have recently moved in to the house. It was a frightening incident for them to experience and thankfully no one was injured. Pellet guns can appear to be real firearms to the untrained eye and capable of causing a huge amount of fear if produced in public or used to threaten anyone. They are being supported by officers as we look to find who was responsible.
“I urge residents who live locally to check your CCTV, dashcam devices or doorbell footage for anything captured which can help with our enquiries. Maybe you saw someone acting suspiciously in the area prior to the incident which will assist the investigation. Any information you provide, however, insignificant it may seem, could be vital to our enquiries.”
