The Spanish city right on the edge of Europe you can fly to from Bristol this summer

EasyJet is launching a new service flying from Bristol Airport this summer, making it the airline’s 19th aircraft to be based at the airport. A new year-round service from Bristol to Almeria in Spain will launch on June 24, operating twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Seats for the route are now on sale from just £29.99 via easyJet’s app and website. This route will see an additional Airbus A320 family aircraft added to easyJet’s Bristol fleet, allowing the airline to provide greater choice for customers in the southwest, according to easyJet.

The airline added that the growth of the fleet will also support the local economy, with each UK-based aircraft supporting around 400 direct and indirect jobs, and £27 million UK gross value added (GVA).

The new route to Almeria has also allowed tour operator easyJet holidays to strengthen its package holiday offering, with customers able to book sunshine getaways to the brand new destination. All easyJet holiday packages include flights, hotel and 23kg luggage on beach holidays, all covered by its Ultimate Flexibility scheme.

Rupert Lawrie, commercial director at Bristol Airport, said: “It’s great news that easyJet continues to invest in Bristol Airport and will be basing 19 aircraft here.” He added, the “all-year route to Almeria adds even more choice for customers and opens opportunities for people from these countries to also visit the South West.

“We’re pleased that the new aircraft will be an Airbus A320neo. This underpins our commitment to local communities that we are actively encouraging airlines to base their newer, quieter and more fuel-efficient aircraft here at Bristol Airport.”

EasyJet carried out a record number of passengers to and from Bristol in its 2024 financial year. The airline continues to be the ‘number one short-haul airline at the airport’.

Since launching operations in Bristol in May 2001, easyJet has carried more than 76 million customers and offers 83 routes to 19 countries. Ali Gayward, easyJet UK country manager, said: “Our success in Bristol is a testament to the continued popularity of our flights and holidays, with customers choosing us for our trusted brand, unrivalled network and great value fares.

“The growth of our fleet with an additional aircraft will not only support around 400 jobs but is enabling us to further unlock the opportunity of the continuing demand that we see for both leisure and business travel in the southwest.

“We’re already capturing this opportunity with the launch of new routes next summer, which will provide more customers with greater choice and connectivity, and we look forward to welcoming them on board.”
