And the pair caught the bus from their home in Keith, Moray, to lay flowers at the spot where the sisters were last seen in Aberdeen.

Johanne said: “People think you’re weird because you’re a twin.

“The kinder you are the worse it is. And they looked like they were kind and gentle souls.

“We think we know how they felt. It was really important that we came and paid tribute to them because it’s just so sad.”

Frances and Johanne told how their lives have been tough because they are twins.

The pair said they have had to spend thousands over the years moving to various towns and cities because they’ve been singled out and bullied.

They trekked to the River Dee in the Torry area, where Eliza and Henrietta were captured on CCTV in the early hours of last Tuesday.

The pair visited a nearby pub to gather their thoughts before they laid a floral tribute at the riverside, along with a card.

Frances said: “We’ve not really been able to stop thinking about them. We’ve not slept since we first heard about them.

“The thing I feel sad about is that last CCTV of them leaving their flat together and coming here.”

When they read reports about Eliza and Henrietta they immediately wondered if the girls had encountered issues but kept it to themselves.

Johanne said: “If anything was happening they probably wouldn’t have said anything to anyone.

“Even if they were close to their family they would probably not have said anything.

“They’re born together and they shared the same womb so they have a connection like no one else has. We deal with things ourselves and they are probably the same.”

The twins have kept close tabs on the case and are anxiously awaiting developments.

Frances said: “I really want them to be found safe and well. I hope they’re out there somewhere.”

Cops launched a massive search for Eliza and Henrietta after they vanished in the early hours of Tuesday January 7.

What has the police investigation found?

THE landlord of the missing sisters had expressed concern for their welfare after many of their “personal possessions

Officers say the sisters had one mobile phone with them but other devices were found at their home.

A massive land, sea and air search has failed to find any trace of the sisters or any personal belongings.

Superintendent David Howieson of Police Scotland said there is “no evidence of criminality so far”.

Officers believe they entered the water after going onto a footpath and didn’t re-emerge from the path.

The force also revealed there have been no suspicious financial transactions since their disappearance.

We told how they were captured on CCTV heading towards the River Dee and then vanished.

Officers have been unable to find any evidence they intended to harm themselves.

Cameras picked up audio that night that could be a woman screaming.

The pair had told their landlady they wanted to move from their city centre flat days before they vanished.

But relatives in Hungary were stunned because the girls had not told them about their plans.

Their bank cards and mobiles have not been used since they were last seen. And they have not contacted friends or relatives.

Police are working on a “strong theory” that they entered the water but are refusing to rule anything out.

Officers are investigating whether they were able to leave the riverside without showing up again on CCTV.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland.
