Warning distressing images: forever home search for Comet – the dog found stabbed and tied to a lamp-post

A dog with stab wounds has been rescued by the RSPCA after being found chained to a lamp-post.

The Mastiff breed dog, who has been named Comet, was found by a concerned member of the public in December. He was tied to a lamppost in the West Midlands in a visibly distressed and exhausted state before being rescued by the RSPCA.

A kind, compassionate individual stayed with Comet, providing food and blankets until help arrived. Their quick actions ensured Comet received the immediate medical attention he needed.

RSPCA Animal Rescue Officer Bal Dhamia, who rushed to Comet’s side after the animal welfare charity was called to help, said: “It’s heartbreaking to see a dog with such painful injuries.  He was very subdued and he looked exhausted when we rescued him. I could see he was still bleeding and in pain, he needed to be moved quickly to the hospital.”

Comet was quickly taken for urgent veterinary care, where he received treatment for three suspected stab wounds at RSPCA Birmingham Animal Hospital. Despite his ordeal, Comet has shown remarkable resilience and is now recovering under the care of dedicated staff here at the Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home.

Comet is now available for adoption and looking for his forever home.

Comet is a lovable, larger-than-life character who charms everyone he meets with his personality and affectionate nature. Despite his size, he sees himself as a lapdog and loves showering his humans with kisses. Comet will make a fun, loyal, and affectionate companion.

Amy, Animal Operations Manager, commented: “Comet’s journey has been one of resilience and hope. Despite everything he has been through, he continues to show us so much love and trust. When we heard Comet’s story, our hearts went out to him. It was clear this poor dog had endured so much and may never have known what it’s like to be truly loved and cared for. Even with the busy Christmas season approaching, we knew CDCH was the best place to give him the chance of a brighter future. He deserves a fresh start with a family who will cherish him.”

In the meantime, Comet is being given plenty of love and attention as he recovers and awaits the new chapter of his life. Investigations by the RSPCA into what happened to Comet are ongoing.
