According to plans submitted to Wyre Forest District Council, Consol Ltd will be opening a new salon branch at the Pump House on Weavers Wharf in Kidderminster.
The historic building was previously home to Frankie and Benny’s before it permanently closed in 2020 with the owners deeming the branch “not financially viable”.
Consol Ltd has branches across the country including Worcester, Oxford, Birmingham and Penzance.
The planning application for advertising, which was approved at the end of last year, will see two signs put up at the front and side of the building.
Work is already underway at the site with big grey boards having been installed where one of the signs will be located.
The heritage statement said: “This statement has been prepared by Boon Brown on behalf of Consol Ltd and is in support of an application for advertisement and listed building consent applications for the display of 1 No. internally illuminated fascia sign on the front (east) elevation and 1 No. internally illuminated built-up lettering sign on the side (north) elevation of the building at The Pump House, Weavers Walk, Kidderminster.
“Planning Ref. 23/0819/CLP (approved December 21, 2023.) confirms that the proposed re-use of the Pump House from a restaurant to a tanning salon (solarium) is Permitted Development.”
A planning application was previously submitted by LCP Retail Limited earlier this year to divide the Pump House into two new units for a tanning salon and a restaurant/takeaway.
Although the businesses moving into the premises were not confirmed at the time, the planning applications have revealed plans for Consol Ltd and KFC to move into the site.
Consol Ltd have been contacted for a comment.
